The web site continues to grow in popularity, with about 20 current musicians profiles under paid ads and varying numbers under free ads. As well as about 200 people are on a mailing list. There are over 1500 visitors per month. While most of the people who post profiles / ads on the site are from Winnipeg, visitors from around the world, e.g., Australia, the UK and the US log on to the web site.
What benefits do I gain from placing my profile / ad on the Musicians Network (Winnipeg, MB) web site?
The benefits of placing your profile / ad on the web site are first of all that it costs only $2. There are 50 - 100 visitors a day looking for musicians, and your ad will be emailed directly to just over 200 interested musicians within a couple of days. Placing your musical profile / ad on the web site is affordable, effective and targeted to other musicians, mostly in the Winnipeg area. As well, your ad will never be covered up by someone else's ad, like on a notice board, and you don't have to leave your home to post it.
How do I get my profile / ad onto the web site?
Please follow the link to "Musicians Seeking Musicians" or "Equipment for sale" and fill in the blanks on the form... that's it!
I suggest your name or AKA or band name, e.g., at least your first name and initial (there are already people with just first names; several "Kevins" and "Cathleens"), your age, the instrument(s) you play, the type of music you like (and / or don't like), what you want to do, e.g., join / form a band, jam, tour, record, etc., how you can be contacted, e.g., phone, email or both (If you are concerned about harassing calls or emails, then create an email account just for this profile / ad), and anything else that you think is important. The more people can learn about you, the less likely you are to get calls you don't need. Please make sure that all the contact information is correct, that there are no errors in your email address and that the email address is yours.
How long will the profile / ad remain on the web site?
The profile / ad will stay posted until you ask me to remove it, or for up to six months. Then I'll remove it.
What if I play several instruments, how many categories will I be listed under?
All ads are now posted under "Musicians Seeking Musicians."

What will I gain from being on the mailing list?
When I get more than two or three profiles / ads, I mail them out to everyone who is on the list. There are just over 200 active email addresses on the mailing list, so your ad will be reach just over 200 interested musicians within a couple of days. All musicians on the mailing list asked to be on the list. This is not a spam list!
Who is the Musicians Network (Winnipeg, MB) web site for?
The web site is for musicians of all ages, for musicians at all stages. I guess if music is a global language it has to speak to everyone. However, I recommend that younger people create an alias for a return email address, i.e., get a hotmail, yahoo or other free email account. That way you can close the account if you get harassed.
Why did you start the Musicians Network (Winnipeg, MB) web site?
I started the web site because in 1998 there wasn't a resource like it serving Winnipeg musicians, and because the internet is becoming an increasingly popular vehicle for communication. Nowerdays there are other web sites like this in Winnipeg, but The Musicians Network (Winnipeg, MB) is still my favorite for musicians seeking musicians in Winnipeg.
Please keep in mind that while this web site is provided as a service for musicians, anyone can access the information. If you don't want harassing or junk email, then all I can suggest is create an email account that you can delete when you are finished with it. Also, I'm not accountable for the reliability of the musicians posted here. If you don't think you can trust a stranger with your personal information, don't give it to them. Use your common sense here as you would anywhere else!
