My Canada appears to have become a Banana Republic where 10 Million Canadians are living in Poverty & need $40,000 per year to survive just above the poverty line, a plastic card in their pockets for example.

45 Years ago, an Automotive Mechanic could earn $8 per hour before overtime & $8 per hour translates into $16,000 per annum @ 40 hours per week, 50 weeks per year. A lot of Mechanics tripled their wages with overtime too! Ergo, a person could volunteer their wages from 125 hours out of a total of 2000 and cover their $1000 fraction of the debt, so to speak. ..

A new house in the adjacent housing development next to mine described above costs $500,000 today and an, eh hem, “Journey Person Automotive Repair Technologist” gets paid $40 - $50 an hour when they can find a mechanics job.
And a new Ford 4-banger costs 5 times more today than it did 40 years ago too.
We, You & I, Ordinary People, have been and continue to be sold down the river & someone needs to “Drop The Card,” so to speak I reckon?
Today I still have NO water supply into my home & I need $10,000 to get the repairs started, because 2 years ago my water service box/line was sabotaged when someone dumped a ton of road gravel down the open manhole?
After excavating the ton of gravel & re-opening the manhole at my own expense, its evident that its not down to me to pay for the repairs that the City are responsible for.
